The Noir Duo and The Raven - Inchiostro Invisibile

Corvo: (Gracchiando piano) «Due.

The Noir Duo and The Raven

Invisible Ink

The coffee in the chipped porcelain cup was cold again. Outside, the rain continued to draw dense patterns on the windowpanes, transforming the streetlights into liquid smears. Inside, the only light came from the dancing flames of the fireplace, which cast long, restlessly alive shadows upon the dark velvet-clad walls.

The Woman was seated at the mahogany desk, her fountain pen still clutched between her fingers, her gaze lost in the void. She had just finished writing, a rapid, unstoppable flow that had coursed through her veins. The Raven, motionless on the windowsill, held its head tilted to the side, its glossy black eyes fixed upon her. Further away, curled up on the velvet armchair, the Cat stretched slowly.

Raven: (Croaking softly) "Two. Just two of his sentences, arriving with the precision of a stiletto strike, were enough to rekindle the fire. It is a dangerous alchemy, this, which transforms ink into confession."

Cat: (Squinting its eyes) "Dangerous or not, it is the only one she knows. He possesses the rare power to stir her inner world with a mere breath, to trigger the spark within her before she can even think of a reply. It is an echo that reaches her from afar and fills her hands with words."

Woman: (Whispering barely above a breath, her fingers brushing the rim of the cup) "It is not just a matter of words. It is as if he possesses the exact map of my inner labyrinth. He knows exactly where to touch to make the right chords vibrate, to make thought immediately become page. At times, he is more present in his enigmatic silence than in any discourse."

The Raven observed her for a few moments before speaking.

Raven: "But the real question, Woman, is another. Do not ask yourself how it feels to write to her. Ask him..."

Cat: "...ask him how it feels to be the source, the prime cause of this whirlwind. To be the one who, with two barely hinted sentences, manages to make her soul pour outward. It must have a specific weight, being the invisible ink that writes his most secret thoughts."

The Woman lowered her gaze to the written pages. For an instant, she seemed almost to want to say something, then smiled faintly, with that melancholy born when something too true has been touched.

Woman: "Indeed. How does it feel to be the one who, with almost no effort, holds the power to open all the doors?"

The Cat returned to curl up in the deepest darkness of the room, while the Raven took flight toward the night, leaving the question suspended in the air thick with smoke and mystery, another secret guarded among the shadows.
